I am a scientist and an activist, so educational outreach seems natural. Here are a few featured videos and articles.
POETRY RECITAL
The first video was taken when I was a Fulbright fellow, I performed a poem that I wrote about my research. At the time, most of my friends in Norway were artists and I wanted to explain to them what I did with most of my time and how important I saw algal research to be. I performed this at Nordic Blacks' open mic in Oslo, Norway.
STUDENT VIDEO: RECLAIMING NUTRIENTS
This video was done by students of my Research and Practical Skills (BIOL3469) course. A heartfelt thanks to the Department of Life Sciences, University of the West Indies, St Augustine for the opportunity to instruct a dynamic and innovative research-based class. I would also like to thank the USF’s PIRE RECLAIM group for all their assistance and feedback in making this effort a multifaceted learning experience. It was a great opportunity for faculty and students from all different disciplines and cultures to interact and gain a greater understanding of socially relevant engineered systems that can be utilized to recover energy, water and nutrients.
